The Magdalen Project

PRESS RELEASE – Local company supports The Magdalen Project

Bridport company Arada Ltd, the largest manufacturer of British built stoves, has announced its support of the Somerset based The Magdalen Project.

After being contacted by The Magdalen Project co-ordinators, Arada Ltd agreed to supply them with a Villager 'C' woodburning stove for the outdoor field classroom so that the classroom can be used throughout the winter months.

The Outdoor Classroom is a circular wood/framed building which is a focal point and weatherproof shelter for groups of children and young people, rural craft courses and care farming 'patients'. It is in constant use and is the perfect base for practical demonstrations in sustainable living and environmental exploration expeditions around the farm.

David Adams, Managing Director at Arada says: "We are delighted to be supporting such a worthwhile cause. Educating young people on the environment and sustainability is paramount if we want to make changes for future generations. We are glad to be contributing to their future knowledge by providing a woodburning stove for the Outdoor Classroom".

Sarah Gleadall, Development Manager for The Magdalen Project continues: "We were thrilled to hear that Arada Ltd would be providing us with a woodburning stove. This is going to make a huge difference to the amount of use we can get out of our Outdoor Classroom, especially in the approaching winter months".

The Magdalen Project is a residential centre at the heart of its own 132 acre organic farm on the Dorset/Somerset border. The Project is the working name of the environmental charity – The Wessex Foundation. The managed farmland and diverse natural habitats provide the basis for a wide range of courses, workshops and eco-adventures, encouraging children and adults to learn new skills, enjoy new experiences and develop a greater understanding of the countryside and a more sustainable approach to life.
